Everest and Lhotse – 8000m

Mount Everest and Lhotse are two of the world’s most iconic peaks, situated side by side in Nepal’s majestic Himalayas. Everest, at 8,848.86 meters (29,031.7 feet), is the tallest mountain on Earth. Just a short distance away, Lhotse rises to 8,516 meters (27,940 feet), making it the world’s fourth-highest mountain.

Combining these two legendary summits into a single expedition is truly the pinnacle of high-altitude mountaineering. Our meticulously crafted 60-day Everest and Lhotse climb offers experienced climbers the rare and thrilling opportunity to reach the summits of two of the world’s highest peaks in one expedition. This feat is not only logistically efficient but also incredibly rewarding, both physically and emotionally.

Designed specifically for seasoned mountaineers in search of a once-in-a-lifetime challenge, this expedition stands out for several compelling reasons. Here’s why this journey is nothing short of extraordinary:

Two Summits in One Expedition

Most expeditions focus on just one 8,000-meter peak—but this one allows you to conquer both Everest and Lhotse in a single, expertly organized journey. By combining the climbs, you maximize your time, effort, and acclimatization in the high Himalayas.

Shared Climbing Route for Maximum Efficiency

One of the most significant advantages of this expedition is the overlapping route to both summits up to Camp 3. This streamlined approach not only simplifies logistics but also enhances acclimatization, as you’ll be ascending and descending the same path multiple times, allowing your body to adapt more effectively to the altitude.

Breathtaking Natural Beauty Along the Way

As you progress through the Khumbu region, you’ll be surrounded by some of the most stunning landscapes on Earth—from towering glaciers and sharp ridgelines to panoramic Himalayan vistas. Moreover, you’ll pass through charming Sherpa villages, where centuries-old Buddhist traditions and warm hospitality enrich your cultural experience.

A Comprehensive Test of Mountaineering Skill and Endurance

While Everest challenges your physical stamina and mental resilience with long, exhausting summit pushes and exposure to the death zone, Lhotse adds a layer of technical climbing difficulty. Its steep and narrow couloir demands strong ice climbing skills, excellent rope management, and full concentration.

Our carefully designed 60-day itinerary includes ample time for acclimatization, technical training, and rest, while allowing flexibility for weather delays and other factors. This detailed approach maximizes your chances of success and ensures your safety throughout the climb.

The expedition begins in Kathmandu with final preparations, permits, and gear checks. From there, we fly to Lukla and trek through the famous Khumbu Valley to Everest Base Camp. The acclimatization rotations follow, gradually building your strength and endurance before making summit pushes on both peaks.

At Great Vision Trek, we are dedicated to providing a safe, well-supported, and environmentally responsible climbing experience. Our package includes:

Climbing Everest and Lhotse combination of the world’s highest mountains in a single expedition requires a significant level of preparation:

1. Prior High-Altitude Experience

We highly recommend previous climbs above 6,000 meters, such as Island Peak, Mera Peak, or Denali. This experience helps your body adapt to the thin air and physical demands of extreme altitudes.

2. Physical Conditioning

Training should focus on cardiovascular endurance, strength, and overall stamina. Running, hiking with a weighted backpack, stair climbing, and interval workouts are ideal. Strength training should target your core, legs, and back.

3. Technical Mountaineering Skills

You should be comfortable with the use of ice axes, crampons, ascenders, and fixed rope systems. Familiarity with crevasse rescue techniques and glacier travel is also important.

4. Proper Equipment

High-quality gear is essential for your safety and comfort. This includes:

  • Insulated mountaineering boots
  • Down suits rated for extreme cold
  • Layered clothing systems
  • Harness, helmet, carabiners, and belay devices
  • Oxygen system (cylinders, mask, regulator)
  • Sleeping bag rated to -40°C

5. Mental Readiness

This expedition requires mental resilience. You’ll face long summit days, unpredictable weather, and periods of isolation. Building mental toughness is just as important as physical training.

The Everest and Lhotse region faces increasing pressure from tourism and mountaineering. At Great Vision Trek, we are committed to preserving the natural beauty of the Himalayas by:

  • Enforcing strict waste management policies
  • Participating in and supporting cleanup campaigns
  • Educating climbers about sustainable mountaineering
